JOMBANG – Fiery enthusiasm to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. That is what radiates from the face of grandmother Rochmah (89), who is the oldest prospective pilgrim (Calhaj) from Jombang, East Java.

He is preparing to leave for the Holy Land of Mecca and Medina on May 27 2024 accompanied by his son and daughter-in-law.

A happy hue appeared to radiate from the face of Rochmah, a resident of Perak Village, Perak District, Jombang Regency, East Java. Even though she only registered for Hajj in 2018, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) decided to immediately send Grandmother Rochmah to the Holy Land because she was elderly.

Among the 1,169 prospective pilgrims from Jombang, Rochmah is the oldest prospective pilgrim from the City of Santri.

His physical condition is still quite healthy except for his hearing which no longer functions normally.

Therefore, when communicating with other people, Grandma Rochmah must be accompanied by her family. Even when he performs the Hajj, he will be accompanied by one of his daughters.

Even though he can still walk normally, the family still provides a wheelchair as a precaution.

This chair will be used if in the Holy Land Rochmah experiences fatigue and is unable to walk. In order to stay healthy until the time of the Hajj pilgrimage, he maintains his health by eating and getting enough rest.

Rochmah hopes that later she will be able to carry out all the pillars of the Hajj smoothly without any obstacles.
