In the United States, investigations continue into the shooting that occurred on Monday in the state of Wisconsin. The person who opened fire at his school in Madison, killing two people and wounding several, is a 15-year-old student, police announced Monday evening.
Shon Barnes, police chief of this northern US city, said the suspect attended the private Christian school Abundant Life Christian School. “She was pronounced dead during her transfer to a local hospital,” he said, adding that the student, according to initial evidence, had died from “a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Victims between life and death
The student and teacher killed at the scene of the tragedy are dead, Shon Barnes said. Among the injured hospitalized, two students are between life and death, two people are in stable condition and two others have been released from hospital, he said.
Outgoing President Joe Biden, for his part, called the shooting “shocking” and “senseless.” He took the opportunity to once again urge Congress to “take action” to pass more restrictive laws in a country that has more individual firearms than inhabitants.
