2,400 clinics worldwide are available for comparison. In the annual ranking of the best hospitals in the world, two German clinics made it into the top 20.
Which hospital you go to is often a question of distance. However, this is not always the best decision. The US magazine “Newsweek” worked with Statista to determine which hospitals in Germany are among the best and listed the 219 best German hospitals in a ranking.
In total, this year’s list includes data on 2,400 hospitals in 30 countries. Each hospital’s rating is based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and public data from patient surveys. After their hospital stay, patients were asked about their general satisfaction, but topics such as hygiene and patient-doctor relationships were also assessed.

Of the 219 best hospitals in Germany, these made it into the German top 20:
This means that little has changed in the first places compared to last year. Only the two Munich clinics swapped places. The LMU Klinikum München rises to third place, while the Klinikum Rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich drops to fourth place.
Two German clinics in the global top 20
As last year, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (US state of Minnesota) is in first place, the Cleveland Clinic (US state of Ohio) is in second place and the Toronto General Hospital – University Health Network (Canada) climbed to third place.
In addition to the Charité and the University Hospital of Heidelberg, there are seven other German hospitals among the 100 best-rated hospitals in the world: the LMU Hospital in Munich (26), the Klinikum Rechts der Isar at the Technical University of Munich (27), the Hannover Medical School (39 ) as well as the university hospitals in Hamburg-Eppendorf (48), Cologne (77), Dresden (99) and Tübingen (100).
