President of the Union of Banks of Armenia Mher Abrahamyan and Executive Director of the Bank of Armenia Seyran Sargsyan summarized the indicators of the banking system of the previous year, presenting the main results and indicators recorded in different directions of the system’s activity.

According to the statistics presented at the press conference, the annual total capital of banks amounted to 844.8 billion. dram Compared to 2018 (771 billion), the increase was 73 billion drams or 9.5%.

Total assets amounted to 5.805 billion drams. Compared to 2018 (4.963 billion), the increase was 842 billion drams or 17%.
Total liabilities during the mentioned period amounted to 4.960 billion drams. Compared to 2018 (4.192 billion), the increase was 768 billion drams or 18.3%.

Credit investments in 2019 indicators made 3.572 billion drams. 2018 compared to (3.245 billion), the increase was 327 billion drams or 10.1%.

2019 as a result, the banking system secured a profit of 78 billion drams. Compared to 2018 (62.2 billion), the increase was 15.8 billion drams or 25.4%.

In the banking system last year, the return on assets (ROA) was 1.34%, and the return on capital (ROE) was 9.24%.

Within the framework of the press conference, payment card transactions were also discussed and it was presented that the number of payment cards in 2019 was 2,390,376, which increased by 366,306 or 18.1% compared to 2018 (2,024,070).

In 2019, 64,728,868 transactions were made with payment cards, which increased by 16,604,108 or 34.5% compared to 2018. In 2019, the volume of payment card transactions was 2,344,113 million AMD, which increased by 411,309 million AMD or 21.3% compared to 2018.
