The US Department of Energy announced that the United States maintains its readiness to conduct underground nuclear tests.

“Although we use this facility for subcritical and nonproliferation testing, we have clearly stated that we do not plan to conduct nuclear testing,” National Nuclear Security Administration Director Jill Hruby, US Deputy Secretary of Energy, said during an annual nuclear deterrence conference in Washington. Nuclear explosions.

She continued: “But we maintain our readiness to conduct such an experiment, as required, and evaluate it.”

Hruby told Arms Control Today magazine last December that the United States had no technical need to resume nuclear testing.

It should be noted that the US administration plans to conduct two nuclear tests at a sub-critical level, that is, without triggering a nuclear chain reaction.

It is planned to do this during the fiscal year 2024, which began on August 1 and will continue until the end of next December, at the experimental field in Nevada. But the US National Nuclear Security Administration did not reveal any possible date for carrying out the experiment.
