The White House is set to announce a new $300 million military aid package for Kyiv later on Tuesday, which will include ATACMS ballistic missiles.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, unnamed representatives of the American authorities reported this to Politico.

“The package will include older versions of the long-range ATACMS missiles, which have a range of 160 km and can have small-caliber cluster munition warheads, one of the sources said.”

The tranche should also include shells for 155 mm howitzers and guided missiles used in the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems.

According to Politico’s source, the Pentagon will use previously saved resources for this assistance package, but this is a temporary solution. “This is not an alternative to additional funding,” concluded an unnamed representative of the US Department of Defense.

The US administration sent a request to Congress last fall to allocate additional funds to provide further assistance to Ukraine and Israel; in particular, Kyiv was offered to allocate $61.4 billion for a year. However, this funding has not yet been approved.

In October 2023, it was reported that Washington had secretly supplied Kyiv with long-range ATACMS missiles. Politico then noted that for the first time, the United States provided Ukraine with equipment capable of hitting targets “far behind the front lines.”
