An announcement that no one expected. Sylvain Levy and Pierre Chabrier, the famous duo from the YouTube channel Vilebrequin, announced their separation on the platform after six years of increasingly crazy videos about automobiles.

The pair announced the sad news to their community of 2.49 million subscribers through a final video entitled “ It’s finish », on the platform. “We are announcing to you today, in a very serious manner, that the Vilebrequin program that you have known over the last five and a few years is stopping,” announces Sylvain Levy at the start of the video, before explaining that Pierre Chabrier and he will “each go on individual projects”.

The two friends, who met on a BlaBlaCar trip, announced that they were ending their collaboration “for a set of reasons”. “We prefer that it ends like a good series,” explains Pierre Chabrier, who specifies that the duo does not want to “outdated the thing, to pull the last piece of string to the end,” so as not to exhaust the chain concept.

This concept consisted of offbeat and humorous videos about automobiles, with crazy and sometimes questionable experiences, such as taking a roundabout at 160 km/h, a speed bump at 170 km/h, driving a car on vodka, “driving with two grams”, or even putting wings on a car.

The duo soon reunited on RMC Découverte

The two YouTubers, whose notoriety increased after their participation in the first GP Explorer that Samuel Levy won, also achieved the feat of equipping a Fiat Multipla, called the “1000tipla”, with an engine of more than 1,000 horses and to run on the legendary circuits of Nevers Magny-Cours and the 24 hours of Le Mans. To achieve this, the two enthusiasts launched crowdfunding with the aim of raising 50,000 euros, but ended up raising more than 1.1 million euros.

Beyond these improbable videos, the duo also made themselves known by offering more serious content entitled “Vultech”. These are explanatory videos on technical elements of cars such as the video “Petrol vs Diesel: which one to choose?” » as well as on manufacturers who have marked the history of the automobile such as Porsche, Aston Martin or BMW.

Let their fans rest assured, the two “Jackass of the car”, as the media specializing in digital trends describes them DNAare not going to separate completely, since we will see them again side by side from 2024 on the RMC Découverte channel, to host the French version of the famous show Top Gear.
