Ahmed Karama, representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation, officially opened the first ordinary session 2023 of the Review Committee of the National Program for Integrated Water Resources Management (PN- GIRE) this Friday, April 28, 2023 in Ouagadougou.

This first ordinary session 2023 of the Review Committee of the National Program for the Integrated Management of Water Resources (PN-GIRE) will allow, in the words of Ahmed Karama, representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of water and also chairman of the said committee, to examine the state of implementation of the recommendations of past sessions, to examine and adopt the various 2022 reports and the 2023 work plans.

The major activities that may have been carried out are, among others, the subsidy of the water police services in the amount of 345,963,680 CFA francs, the recovery of 4,734,141,157 CFA francs in respect of the financial contribution for water, a contribution financing to local water committees in the amount of 460,899,813 CFA francs, the production of 15 ten-day hydrological notes, the development of 6 water sources, the destruction of invasive plants (typha and hyacinth) over an area of 86.5 ha”, he underlined.

Ahmed Karama was optimistic about achieving the objectives for the year 2023. “In terms of prospects, given the improvement in the security situation, we believe that we can largely achieve our objectives for this year 2023”did he declare.
