“Contribution of women to the effort of security, peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso”, it is around this concern that the coordination of women of Burkina Faso met with the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE. According to the Minister of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and the Family, Mrs. Nandy SOME/DIALLO, the women of Burkina want through this meeting with the Head of State, to testify to him their recognition for his “unwavering determination to fight armed terrorist groups, liberate our territory and resettle displaced people in their villages”.

During this meeting, women’s representatives from different regions first presented the worrying situation in areas with strong security challenges. According to them, women face all kinds of gender-based violence such as kidnapping, slavery, and rape.

And faced with this situation, women have not remained on the sidelines of the ongoing actions against terrorist attacks. They have set up monitoring structures and initiated actions to support internally displaced persons. Many women have also enlisted as Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP).

Faced with the Head of State, women asked for their consideration in decision-making bodies and encouraged the Head of State to strengthen communication activities for social and behavioral change. They also want equitable access to productive resources, arable land and housing.

In response to the concerns of the women of Burkina, the Head of State congratulated them on the displacement from Ouagadougou and reassured that the State will do everything possible to “guarantee the lives of individuals”. Captain Ibrahim TRAORE also praised the leadership and actions of women for the return of peace in our country. The President of the Transition finally urged women to continue in this dynamic in favor of social cohesion and the return of peace.

Immediately, the women’s representatives gave the Head of State a financial contribution on behalf of all the women of our country, for the war effort.
