The wrath of Vissani: “Bet on our skin”

by time news

The anger of Gianfranco Vissani on reopenings it does not subside. Interviewed once again by Adnkronos, the popular chef has returned to denounce an extreme situation: “They are betting on our skin, a game to the massacre that we do not deserve”.

The reopenings of restaurants and clubs suffer, in fact, from a series of rules and rigid limitations, dictated by anti-contagion regulations, which instead of favoring revenue, force merchants and entrepreneurs to have to stop the situation. And the weather, in all this, does not help. “Reopen the restaurants – declared Vissani – we must not be afraid. Our premises are protected, sanitized, no possible alarm for customers. And then with the cold you can’t stay outdoors. Italy is not made up only of Milan and Rome, but of over 8 thousand municipalities with less than 2 thousand people“.

For chef Gianfranco Vissani – who joined the peaceful protest of Umbrian restaurateurs in front of the withdrawal of Prime Minister Draghi in Città della Pieve last April – the time has come to be able to reopen also inside the premises. An evolution that could occur starting from May 16, when at least the time of curfew should be extended by one, two hours: “We hope that after May 16 we can really reopen, in safety of course, making our spaces available inside and above all extending the hours. My premises have been sanitized with NASA machinery. If a customer has Covid, it creates a bubble around it and does not infect anyone“.

According to Vissani, the poor choices made by previous governments weigh above all on the difficult current recovery. The latter, in fact, have not been able to guarantee adequate economic support to entrepreneurs in the sector of catering and not only: “Many hate us, they think we are scammers, that we have made money and do not pay taxes. But we have mortgages to honor and it is not easy to ask banks for help and support. President Draghi is a great banker, but the people, meanwhile, are dying“. The chef, who has his restaurant in Umbria, did not spare Europe from a resounding thrust in the interview finale:”The pandemic is not our fault. The vaccines were supposed to arrive before Christmas, but what did Europe and President Ursula von der Leyen do? We should have taken an example from England“All that remains is to wait, therefore, mid-May to understand how the situation will evolve.
