The WTO has approved urban renewal in Lod

The Committee for Preferred Housing Complexes (Hotamal) approved for deposit the plan for urban renewal, adjacent to the metro station in the Eilat complex in Lod. The plan area is 49 dunams. The plan promoted by the Lod Municipality and the Government Authority for Urban Renewal 27 floors. 163 of all the housing units in the plan will be small apartments. In addition, the plan offers areas for commerce and offices, allocates areas for public needs and about 13 dunams for open spaces.

Today, there are 209 housing units in the complex in 16 “H” and “train” buildings of 4 floors that will be evacuated in favor of the renewal of the complex. In addition, in the area of ​​the plan, there are 3 4-story buildings intended for reinforcement and thickening, including 48 housing units that will be reinforced and additional storage and a balcony. As part of the strengthening and thickening of these buildings, an addition of 48 new housing units will be built.

The plan is part of a series of plans to intensify construction along the main streets of Lod while relying on a large supply of public transportation. The outline for the renewal of the neighborhood includes intensive construction along two very central arteries in the city of Lod, along which a variety of public transportation mixed with uses of residential, employment, commercial and educational institutions on the ground floor.

In terms of transportation, the plan proposes the construction of bicycle paths within the neighborhood that also connect to an urban system on the main streets, wide and shady sidewalks along facades, and a system of pedestrian paths.

The municipality and the municipal administration take overall responsibility for the planning and implementation processes of urban renewal in terms of physical, social and economic infrastructure and the state will continue to support this process.”
