Next January 15, the Xunta will open the call for its rental assistance programwhich has a budget of 20 million euros, which will be distributed equally between 2024 and 2025. These amounts multiply by four the funds that were allocated to the plan until now, which amounted to 2.7 million euros during this year.
After the meeting of the Xunta held today Thursday, in which authorization was given for the expense, Alfonso Rueda explained that the expectation is that the program will have 3,600 beneficiaries throughout Galicia. The president added that during 2024, some 56 million euros will be allocated to different plans for access to housing.

The Xunta, in addition to expanding the funds for the rental assistance program, has also introduced changes to expand its scope and favor different groups. The Xunta highlighted that this distribution will be more fair and distributive, since it will take into account the income and vital situation of the applicants instead of making a linear distribution between them.

The call also establishes a limit on the price of rented housing according to its location. In the seven cities Aid cannot be requested for homes that exceed 600 euros in monthly rent. In the urban towns and municipalitiesthat limit falls to 550 euros, and in the rest of Galicia be 425 euros.
The grants will be awarded for a period of 12 months and can be renewed for one year – hence the program includes funds for 2025. The granting of aid will have retroactive effects to January 1, 2024, even if it is granted later.
