People are leaving the capital to share the joy of Eid with their loved ones. At this time, the Sadarghat launch terminal in Dhaka is usually crowded with people. However, on Saturday (April 6) afternoon, the pressure of passengers was not seen here.

Bhola-bound launch passenger Rakib Hasan said, we don’t have direct vehicle connection with Bhola. So, we’re off to the launch. If there was a car, I would go by car. However, now Sadarghat is not as crowded as before. Because, the passengers of Barisal go over the Padma Bridge by bus.

Tanzil Ahmed, who is going to Barisal, said, I am going home to share the joy of Eid with my family. Traveling by car with kids is a bit difficult. So, going to the launch. However, most of the people in our area now travel to Dhaka by bus. Being Padma Bridge we can go home in three hours.

Those involved in launch business at Sadarghat say that we don’t have passengers like before. Everyone from the southern region is now going home via the Padma Bridge by bus. Some people are going to the launch. If we continue like this, it will not be possible to sustain our business.

Zakir Hossain, Manager of Sundarban Navigation, said that the number of passengers is relatively low today. However, it is expected that the pressure on passengers will increase if other industries including garment factories are closed. It is true that there is no passenger pressure as it was before Padma Bridge. Now most of the passengers go home via Padma Bridge by bus.

Meanwhile, naval police, BIWTA and fire service personnel are working to ensure the safety of the passengers at the Sadarghat launch terminal to ensure the safety of the Eid journey.
