After the ODI World Cup, Ibadat Hossain will not be able to play in the T20 World Cup. T20 World Cup will be held in USA and West Indies next June. The right-arm pacer is unlikely to be fit before this.

Bangladesh Cricket Board chief doctor Debashish Chowdhury confirmed this news to RisingBD. Although Ibadat said a few days ago, he wants to return to the T20 World Cup. That’s why he started bowling only action as part of his rehabilitation.

Ibadat injured his left leg in the second match of the ODI series against Afghanistan in July last year. Suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. After initial observation, it was reported that the injury was not serious. After that, his rehabilitation process was going on. But, he was sent to London as he did not give good feedback in rehabilitation.

Ibadat underwent surgery at Cromwell Hospital on August 30. It was said that rehabilitation could take at least six months. As a result, got knocked out of World Cup and BPL.

His rehabilitation process ended on January 13. Speaking about his desire to play in the T20 World Cup at the BCB Academy, Ibadat said, ‘I hope to return before the World Cup, Insha’Allah. The biggest thing is the way the medical department is supporting and doing the rehab very well. Getting strength back. Hopefully, something good will happen in the future.’

But, his hope is not fulfilled for now. Because it will take more time to get fully fit Ibadat. Debashish Chowdhury said, ‘We are not even thinking about playing Ibadat in the World Cup. No chance. There is a specific timeframe for that. It will take 8 to 12 months. He will have to stay in rehabilitation for at least 10 months. From October to December, this time will take. Then his return process. Maybe he’ll be back before long. But, I don’t see any opportunity in the World Cup.’

Ibadat missed out on two consecutive World Cups and an Asia Cup. Due to injuries, the right-arm pacer has not only lost matches for the national team, but also suffered financial loss. BCB did not keep him in the central contract this time because he is not in the field. However, he did not hide from his eyes at all. The fast bowler is not under central contract but is being paid D category salary every month.
