Berlin The sluggish digitization threatens numerous coalition projects. The traffic light alliance is making little progress with the digital strategy presented a year ago with great ambitions. “Only a small fraction of the approximately 300 projects have been completed, including simple things such as new websites for government offers,” said Bernhard Rohleder, general manager of the Bitkom industry association, to the Handelsblatt.
Rohleder relies on an evaluation by the association, the results of which will be presented at the end of August. The goals of the digital strategy include a nationwide mobile network, digital schools and authorities, and electronic patient records.
“It is visible and measurable that the self-proclaimed progressive coalition is falling short of its own claims,” says Rohleder. Among other things, this is due to “the fact that some ministries simply can’t make any headway when it comes to digitization”. The background is also that the traffic light coalition wants to cut funds for digitization due to tight budgets.
