The 17th edition of the International Drawing and Photography Competition, dedicated to World Water Day – March 22, ended with a solemn concert and award ceremony. It is organized by the Municipal Youth Home and Waterworks – Ruse.

“The initiative promotes the creativity and commitment of young people in our community and in the country, but also emphasizes the importance of protecting water resources,” said Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev, who awarded some of the winners. He presented a congratulation on behalf of Mayor Pencho Milkov and expressed hope that the initiative will continue to develop and inspire young people.

This year, 474 participants entered the competition with their works. The organizers received drawings from all over the country and 131 photographs from Bulgaria, Tunisia, Egypt, Spain, Turkey, Portugal and Poland. In this year’s edition, the participants created under the title “Let’s use water for peace”. Every year the theme of the competition is different and is set by the United Nations, but it is always related to the protection of the priceless resource – water, and its purpose is to touch on important public issues. This was announced by the press center of Ruse Municipality.

The young artists were divided into three age groups, and special awards were given on behalf of the mayor, Pencho Milkov. Waterworks – Ruse and the Municipal Youth Center also awarded the best drawings and photographs in their opinion. Their authors received their awards from the director of the water company Eng. Ilian Milev and the director of UMD Krasimira Nikolaeva.

Young talents from the Wushu Club, Folkloric dance studio “Zora”, Ballet “Impulse” and Studio for pop and jazz singing “Ikonomov” at the Municipal Youth Home presented their performances. The host of the event was Mina Marinova.
