GERB and BSP accused Vyara Todeva of political activism and pressure, PP-DB-SS are satisfied – she followed the rules for a new election of bosses
A new twist took shape in the Metropolitan Municipal Council, after the regional governor of Sofia, Vyara Todeva, returned for a new examination the election of vice-presidents and the distribution of the commissions. In a meeting until dark last week, the positions were distributed, and GERB, BSP, ITN and the breakaways from “Vazrazhdane” headed the most important ones, on which the development of the city depends.
“There are significant procedural violations that require a review of the decisions made. An extraordinary meeting was unreasonably called without a reason being given. The requirements for deadlines and prior provision of the materials to the municipal councilors have not been met. The meeting was chaired without a given mandate by the elected chairman of the SOS”, reasoned Todeva. Thus, the decision of the SOS on the commissions must be re-voted. And they will not work until the re-voting, said the new temporary head of SOS Tsvetomir Petrov. This gives an opportunity for new negotiations, but the result will hardly be different, because PP-DB-SS has only 23 municipal councilors, and only the three authentic ones from “Vazrazhdane” did not vote with the new majority.
GERB defined the actions of Vyara Todeva as a political order carried out by a PP-DB activist. She herself was appointed by the Prime Minister Academician Nikolay Denkov. GERB group chairman Anton Hekimyan explained that he will ask the national leadership of his party to replace Todeva in the rotation. “The work of the SOS once again stops, the handbrake was again pulled by a clearly political activist of the PP Vyara Todeva”, he declared.
“This is a clear form of political racketeering. PP, through the regional governor, is trying to influence the municipal council so that they get more chairmanships. We have no faith in Vyara Todeva”, added Georgi Georgiev. And he sent the lawyer who drafted Todeva’s order to tear up his diploma. Miroslav Borshosh warned that due to the frozen work of the SOS, more than 600 events from the cultural calendar cannot take place, and soon the children will not be able to study in undersized classes, because there is no decision on submitted reports.
“The regional governor shot Vasil Terziev as mayor. Any decisions by his administration, good or bad, will not be considered. The regional governor sabotaged the work of the mayor and faced us with a severe crisis – for the daily work of the administration. Sofia has gone from a political crisis to an administrative one,” Borshosh summarized.
“BSP for Bulgaria” also demanded Todeva’s resignation because he sabotaged the work of the municipal council. According to them, by law the decisions taken by the SOS for the election of chairmen, vice-chairmen and composition of the commissions are non-appealable.
As expected, ITN also spoke out against Todeva’s decision and demanded her resignation. “The order by which the regional governor returns the decision on the election of deputy chairmen and permanent committees in the SOS is in violation of the law. The prominent argument for not uploading the agenda to the website of the municipality is a violation of the newly elected chairman of the SOS, for which he must bear an administrative penalty”, said ITN.
“They were in such a hurry to take advantage of the “red wedding” that after the meeting started, the proposals were distributed at 19:59 – an hour after the start of their voting. The decisions were read in the hall, the people did not know that they were nominated”, explained Hristo Koparanov from PP-DB-SS. According to him, the procedure should be repeated under normal rules next week, after everyone gets acquainted with the documents.
