Initial investigations point to the fact that the couple wounded by a bullet in Torreón was caught committing a crime when they were shot; authorities continue with the inquiries because the man has a criminal record for the crime of robbery.

It was shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning when security personnel requested help, after even the Francisco Sarabia International Airport an injured couple had arrived.

Agents from the various security corporations, as well as paramedics from the Red Cross, went to the old Torreón – San Pedro highway to provide medical attention to the injured, who were sitting on the edge of the sidewalk and said they had their address in the Colony La Aviation.

The man identified himself as Hector, 27 years old, who was shot twice in the chest and one in the ribs; while the woman, who was next to him and who identified herself as 22-year-old Alejandra, was seen shot in the left leg that caused an open fracture. Both were transferred to the General Hospital for specialized medical care.

In their first statements, the couple assured that they had been shot at in a vacant lot located in the Satélite neighborhood and that they had walked to the airport to ask for help. However, they changed their version and claimed that a man wearing a red shirt had assaulted them when they were walking and took a cell phone and 500 pesos in cash from them. This version was not confirmed either, so everything indicates that the couple was stealing when they were surprised and shot.

From the investigation it turned out that Héctor has seven admissions to the Qualifying Judge and another seven occasions he has been presented before the agent of the Public Ministry, three of these for the crime of shoplifting, one for burglary, one for injuries, one for robbery of a person and another for possession of a knife.

While it is determined what the couple was doing when they were shot, the investigation remains open and they are hospitalized in the custody of the authorities.
