The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has issued an alert this Friday for the presence of salmonella in frozen cooked crabs from the Pescanova brand.

Specifically, it is the product “Frozen cooked crab” from the Pescanova brand, with an expiration date of the end of October 2024 and batch number 40224.

According to the information available, the distribution of the product involved has been carried out entirely in establishments of the Froiz supermarket chain and its franchisee Mercamas, with implementation in the autonomous communities of Galicia, Community of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León .

This information has been transferred to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI), in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from marketing channels.

Aesan recommends that people who have products affected by this alert at home refrain from consuming them.

If you have consumed any of the products from the affected batches and present any symptoms compatible with salmonellosis (mainly diarrhea or vomiting accompanied by fever and headache), Aesan recommends going to a health center.
