by time news

Kochi: The High Court has said that there is no need for a CBI investigation into the controversy that Mayor Arya Rajendran wrote to the CPM District Secretary requesting him to appoint a person to temporary vacancies in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Former councilor GS Sreekumar approached the court demanding a CBI probe. The party secretary was accused of nepotism to fill the vacancies.

The Director General of Prosecution told the court on behalf of the government that the petitioner did not have any evidence to prove the allegation. The government argued that there was no need for further investigation on account of the mysterious letter. The court dismissed the petition stating that the CBI investigation is not necessary now that the crime branch investigation is in progress.

It was circulated that the CPM had sent a letter to the district secretary to obtain a priority list for hiring daily wage workers by tampering with the Mayor’s official letterpad. A letter written on the letterpad of Mayor Arya Rajendran came out on November 5, asking for a list of party members to insert temporary posts in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The letter was leaked when a leader forwarded it to a WhatsApp group.
