Kim Petras was actually supposed to sing the song for the European Football Championship. However, the musician has now dropped out – and is represented by Leony.
The European Football Championship will be held in Germany in the summer of 2024. While the final squad of the German national team has not yet been decided, the performers of the EM song have been known for a few months: singer Kim Petras, the US band One Republic and the Italian EDM group Meduza were supposed to team up – but now there is a big change.
Kim Petras is backing down, as “Bild” reports. The reason for this is scheduling difficulties. Leony steps in for this. The pop singer and songwriter is one of the most streaming artists in Germany; in 2023, the now 26-year-old was also on the DSDS jury. The joint song with One Republic and Meduza will probably be produced and presented in the coming weeks.
Leony also announced the news herself on her Instagram account. “I’m finally allowed to tell you. I’m singing the official song for the European Championship 2024 together with One Republic and Meduza,” it says on her profile. “This is a huge honor for me, I’m so happy to be a part of it,” she added.

Leony’s followers shared their joy and left kind words in the comments section of the post. “I’m so proud of you,” wrote one user. “I’m really happy for you! Congratulations! So well deserved,” read another comment. “I truly wish you this from the bottom of my heart,” another fan agreed.
Many users are probably not only looking forward to Leony, but also to the title that she will be releasing together with One Republic and Meduza. “You’ll do wonderfully”, “I’m so excited about the song” and “It’s definitely going to be a hit” can be read under the post, among other things.
