At today’s regular General Assembly, the members of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee reported a memorable year in the history of Olympism in our country. During the period, the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the IOC took place, the events were personally honored by the President of the IOC Thomas Bach and a number of influential personalities of world sports.

“The celebration of the famous anniversary gave us the opportunity to once again give what we deserved and to thank everyone who contributed to the Olympic glory and prosperity of Bulgaria. Thomas Bach came specially to congratulate us on the anniversary and gave a very high assessment of the activity and authority of the BOC and the Olympic movement in our country. And something that I am very proud of – finally, Bulgaria officially received personal recognition from the President of the IOC, that it is among the founders of the modern Olympics as a participating country of the first games in Athens in 1896. It is prestigious that our country already has positions in key structures of the IOC, this is a recognition of the Bulgarian

Olympic Movement,” he said in his address to delegates

the chairman of BOK Stefka Kostadinova.

The Bulgarian performance at the European Games was also highlighted

Krakow-Małopolska and at the European Olympic festivals. We returned from Poland with 12 awards, three of which were gold, and throughout the year our young athletes recorded authoritative rankings all over the world. “Now the primary task is to win the maximum number of Olympic quotas

for Paris, which is becoming increasingly difficult under increased competition and

the strained sieve. BOK provides full assistance in the preparation and in

the starts of our leading competitors. I believe that after the huge success in Tokyo, now in the French capital we will again have the good fortune to hear the Bulgarian anthem, and not once,” Kostadinova also announced, before thanking her BOC team, the auxiliary units and our entire Olympic community for the strong commitment and dedication to the ideas of Olympism.

The BOC General Assembly accepted three new members, approving the applications of individual Boran Hadjiev and Slavi Binev plus the Bulgarian Cricket Federation as meeting all requirements.

The delegates of the BOK General Assembly accepted the Report, which analyzes in detail our performance in individual sports. The accounting report, audit and report of the Control Board were also voted on. The Program of the BOK for 2024 and the Budget of the BOK for 2024 were adopted. The delegates honored the memory of the Bulgarian party leader Neophyte by standing up and observing a minute’s silence.

At the end of the forum, Stefka Kostadinova thanked the previous rector of the NSA Prof. Nikolay Izov and the former minister of sports Vesela Lecheva, congratulating the new rector of the NSA Prof. Krasimir Petkov, after which she once again wished success to all Bulgarian athletes on their way to Paris and at the Olympics itself in the French capital this summer. The summer ones

Olympic Games begin on July 26 and will continue until August 11.
