Surprisingly, Atanaska Bakalova, the mother of the murdered Mitko, tried to defend Rangel Bizyurev. “They made him a monster, and he doesn’t have a single beating. No one who knows him believes him, he can’t fight,” she told “24 Hours”.

She is very pleased with the news that the suspect in her son’s death, Rangel Bizyurev, will be returned to Bulgaria tomorrow – exactly 8 months after the fatal night.

Mitko died after a brutal beating on July 20 of this year, and 4 days later Rangel Bizyurev flew to Germany. On November 29 he was captured in a provincial town in the Kingdom of Denmark. The court there allowed his extradition, and the decision was confirmed at a second instance after the 30-year-old man appealed.

“We hope that the case will start as it should and that all participants will bear the consequences”, said Atanaska Bakalova. For 8 months, she and her relatives protested that the twins Borislav and Valentin Dinkovi should also be charged for the murder. They are now held liable only for personal concealment.

“He kind of takes all the blame,” the mother commented. She does not believe that the brothers are innocent and does not find it logical for them to go help Bizyurev if they did not participate. “He is nothing to them, he came for 13 days from Germany, why should they hide him? Any normal person will file a report, and the whole family will get into trouble,” Bakalova is perplexed.

The woman is assured by the investigators that after the questioning of Rangel, a new investigative experiment will be done to find out exactly how the murder happened. The original one was in the wrong place, which was 50 meters from her bedroom window. “I would have heard something, the neighbor too, he is closer. There is a dog out there, it would have barked,” explained Atanaska Bakalova. According to her, it was even necessary for the owners of dogs in the area to collect them in order to do the experiment, as it got in the way.

“Mitko, we can’t bring him back. But so that there won’t be another like him, everyone should get what they deserve,” Bakalova is categorical. She added that she and her relatives have not decided whether they will continue with the protests.
