In a joint operation conducted last week by the Department of Enforcement and Supervision at the Ministry of Health, the Customs Enforcement Units and the Rishon LeZion Police, thousands of counterfeit preparations for the treatment of impotence were seized last week. These preparations, some of which were presented as natural nutritional supplements to treat impotence, are not approved by the Ministry of Health to treat the phenomenon.

In the laboratory tests carried out, it was found that the preparations contained active medicinal substances that are present in the approved drug Viagra and other drugs. In addition, illegal preparations that are used as spray bottles were seized in which an active medicinal substance was discovered that is used for local anesthetics to relieve pain, itching and inflammation. It should be noted that the preparations are presented under commercial names, some of which are presented as original, well-known and approved, but this is the import and trade of medical preparations from unregistered manufacturers that are not approved by the Ministry of Health and are sold against the law.
Dr. Roni Berkowitz, director of the Department of Enforcement and Supervision at the Ministry of Health, warned against the dangers of buying drugs outside of the legal marketing channel and against the use of counterfeit products that could harm public health, and noted that drugs should only be purchased in pharmacies and with a doctor’s approval.
