Three dead, two seriously injured and five slightly injured were the toll in seven traffic accidents that occurred in February on the road network of Epirus.
In the corresponding period last year, there were five dead, one seriously injured and 14 minor injuries in a total of ten traffic accidents.
The main causes of traffic accidents, as it emerged from the police traffic investigation, were distraction-failure to keep a safe distance, violation of priority, entering the opposite traffic stream and irregular maneuvering.
And 7,816 violations
In order to prevent traffic accidents, systematic checks were carried out on the road network of Epirus, which resulted in the confirmation of a total of 7,816 violations, of which the dangerous ones stand out, as they lead directly to the traffic accident or have a decisive influence on its outcome.
In particular, 1,875 violations were confirmed for excessive speed, 583 for not using the seat belt while driving, 397 for not using a helmet while driving, 278 for driving against the flow of traffic / illegal overtaking / illegal maneuvering, 262 for using a mobile phone while driving driving, 163 for running a red light, 115 for driving under the influence of alcohol (drunk) and 20 for worn tires
It is also noted that in the previous month, 150 violations were confirmed for the deprivation of a driver’s license, 49 violations concerning uninsured vehicles and 871 commercial vehicle violations.
