The seafarers of Santa Pola will be protagonists today throughout the Valencian Community with the premiere on regional television of the three-episode miniseries starring Luis Tosar and Blanca Portillo. Tonight, starting at 10:00 p.m., the first two episodes will be broadcast and tomorrow at the same time we will be able to see the third and final episode on À Punt.

The miniseries is directed by Alberto Ruiz Rojo, with a script by Tatiana Rodríguez and Victor Pedreira and starring Luis Tosar (Pepe Durá), Blanca Portillo (Spanish Ambassador to Malta) and Sonia Almarcha (Pepi Irles), a co-production of Studio 60 and MacFly. productions for À Punt and RTVE. A good part of the series was filmed in Santa Pola and its port and even on the high seas.

“The Law of the Sea” tells the story of Pepe Durá, skipper of the Santa Pola fishing boat “Francisco y Catalina”, and his crew, who on July 14, 2006 made the decision to put 51 Eritrean immigrants on their boat, including those who were a 2-year-old girl and a pregnant woman, when they were adrift aboard a boat in the Mediterranean.

For nine long days, the boat was waiting for the decision of the European authorities without allowing the immigrants to disembark in Malta, which led them to experience difficult situations that are reflected in the production.

The first two episodes will be broadcast on À Punt tonight at 10:00 p.m. and will end with the third and final episode tomorrow, Tuesday at the same time.
