The American actor Tom Sizemore, one of the protagonists of ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (‘Saving Private Ryan’), died this Friday in a hospital in Burbank, California, after suffering a brain aneurysm last February, according to his representative, Charles Lago, has informed the media.
The 61-year-old actor, born in Detroit (Michigan), has been part of the cast of several successful films, some of them related to the world of crime or war between the nineties and the beginning of the 21st century.
Among them is, in addition to ‘Saving Private Ryan’ with Oscar-winning Tom Hanks, ‘Heat’, ‘Natural Born Killers’ (‘Born Murderers’), ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘The Relic’ and ‘Black Hawk Down’ (‘Black Hawk shot down’).
The actor used to play tough guys and perhaps his best known role was that of Sergeant Mike Horvath in ‘Saving Private Ryan’, a war movie about World War II.
He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2000 for his role in the miniseries “Witness Protection” and has appeared as a supporting role in episodes of the television series “Twin Peaks” and “Cobra Kai.”
The actor, who has been involved in numerous controversies and came to confess his addiction to drugs on television, was sentenced in 2003 for assaulting his ex-partner Heidi Fleiss, while in 2009 he was also accused of having mistreated his girlfriend.
In an interview with Fox News in 2021, Sizemore shared his intentions to get sober: “I’ve been trying to get sober since 1991…I’ve had a problem for a long time. He had periods, long periods, of sobriety and ended up relapsing, ”he explained then.
