Horror videos of hundreds of inmates tortured, sexually humiliated and raped in Russian prisons: these brutal images came to light from Putin’s prisons in early October. BILD also reported on it.
Now it is clear who leaked the 1000+ videos to the NGO “Gulagu-net”: Belarusian Sergey Savelyev!
Savelyev spent eight years in Putin prison in Saratov on the central Volga, a prison known for mistreating prisoners. His alleged crime: drug offenses.

During his time in the torture prison, Savelyev worked in an IT prison office, Savelyev now told the BBC. He discovered the terrible videos on a server, was able to collect them on USB sticks and smuggle them out of jail as a whistleblower.
Now Savelyev has to fear for his life: According to his own account, he played the videos to the human rights activists from Gulagu-net after his release in February. Until he was stopped by Russian agents in St. Petersburg and threatened with death.
Choice between life and death
The agents forced him to cooperate with the secret services and to sign that he would not flee.
“The real choice was between life and death. I chose life, ”Savelyev told the BBC.
Savelyev fled anyway. Via Belarus and Tunisia to France, where he is now applying for asylum.
“Psychologically, it’s very difficult to keep something like that to yourself. What can you still do if you know it? ”The whistleblower told the AFP news agency on Sunday at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.
The secret service leadership does not want to have known anything
After the videos were released, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced a “very serious investigation” in early October. Five law enforcement officers in the affected regions resigned, including the director of the Saratov prison.
According to the NGO Gulagu-net, spokesmen for the FSB and FSIN claimed that the leadership of the domestic intelligence service and the “special units of the federal prison service” were unaware of the torture and rape. Presumably a protective claim.
Because there are more photos of torture – taken by Putin’s torturers themselves! The whistleblower suspects that they filmed their horror acts to document their work “in higher positions”. They show: torture, sexual abuse, rape of prisoners.

The cruelty of the videos can hardly be described. They show the rape of (exclusively male) prisoners with large objects, the forced rape of prisoners among themselves, the sexual humiliation of entire groups of prisoners and again and again brutal violence, paired with sexualised violence, against defenseless inmates of the prisons.
