TotalEnergies promises a rebate to SMEs

DECRYPTIONThe group is extending the system put in place by the government for the benefit of VSEs only.

TotalEnergies will enable SMEs to “renegotiate their electricity contract”, said Patrick Pouyanné, the CEO of the group, at the microphone of BFMTV. A “rebate”, the implementation of which promises to be complex.

This system is modeled on the one put in place at the request of the government by electricity suppliers at the beginning of January. It provides a response to soaring energy bills and concerns very small businesses (VSEs) which have renewed their electricity contract from the second half of 2022. It allows them to benefit from a tariff of 280 euros per MWh on average over 2023, lower than the market price. Some 600,000 VSEs are concerned.

The boss of TotalEnergies has decided to extend this system to SMEs, ie approximately 6,000 customers. This applies to those who signed electricity contracts between July and December.
