Footprints in the snow confirmed the presence of the animal, said the Bavarian State Office for the Environment. The last time a brown bear was in Bavaria was in the summer of 2022.

ITraces of a brown bear have been spotted in Upper Bavaria. The animal left footprints in the snow in the districts of Miesbach and Rosenheim in the border area with Austria last weekend, as the Bavarian State Office for the Environment in Augsburg announced on Monday.

The tracks were evaluated and a brown bear was confirmed, it said. More information about the bear is not possible due to footsteps. The last confirmed reference to a brown bear in Bavaria is from the summer of 2022.

In the border area between Reutte in Tyrol, the districts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, several indications were confirmed in 2022. Even then, it was not possible to give more details about the bear due to the tracks.
