Russia is ready to discuss the supply of Indian cars to the country, but no specific proposals have been received yet, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are ready to discuss. So far, no such proposals have been received. I know that there are such conversations, but so far nothing concrete has been brought out for us,” Manturov said, answering a question about the entry of Indian brands into the Russian car market.

At the end of March, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Babakov noted that cars from the Indian manufacturer Tata Motors could enter the Russian market.

Earlier, the general director of the Best Motors auto dealer, Alexander Stepanov, said that Best Motors plans to start selling cars of the Iranian Saipa brand on June 1. Before the start of sales, the company plans to bring to Russia the first batch of 1,000 cars. According to Stepanov, these cars will be brought into the country on the basis of a conclusion on the evaluation of a single vehicle – that is, in fact, they will be imported through parallel imports. At the same time, Saipa will be certified in Russia to obtain a vehicle type approval (OTTS) and launch official sales, he explained.
