Nothing has worked in Dortmund’s main station since early Saturday morning, because of the defective signal box no trains could run there. The cause was a storm.

Train operations in Dortmund Central Station restarted after storm damage on Saturday evening. Deutsche Bahn AG announced that the damage to the signal box had been repaired. At the start of operations on Sunday, traffic will be back to normal. In the course of the night everything will gradually get rolling again.

Nothing had worked in Dortmund’s main station since early Saturday morning, and no trains could run there because of the defective signal box. Thousands of travelers had to reschedule or accept delays. Fans who traveled to the BVB Bundesliga game and wanted to go to the stadium were also affected.

The signal box had failed because there had been water ingress there after a storm on Saturday night. According to the fire brigade, heavy rain had led to numerous flooded streets in the Dortmund city area.
