Two people were injured in a train accident in Kilinochchi Science Nagar area. Our correspondent informed that this accident took place at 8.15 this morning.
A government bus carrying employees to Jaffna University collided with the Jaffna Rani traveling from Jaffna towards Murikandi while trying to cross the expressway.
Two people, including the driver of the bus and a woman passenger, were injured in the accident and were admitted to Kilinochchi Hospital.
Meanwhile, the bus also hit the vehicle of the engineering faculty dean who was stopping to cross the crossing. People report that the railway crossing in question has no safety crossing and only a signal.
People say they are facing difficulties due to non-construction of security crossing in Science Nagar area, where there are many private companies and garment factories, engineering faculty of Jaffna University.
People also point out that many people have died in accidents in the past due to lack of safety crossing in the area.
Due to this, they have requested the authorities to set up a security crossing.
