Traveling or on holiday to Turkey? You have to think about this

by time news

GRONINGEN – To enjoy a relaxed holiday, it is important to prepare well. What should you consider as a holidaymaker in Turkey?

While winter has yet to begin, many are already longing for summer temperatures due to the autumn vicissitudes. Some even decide to spend the winter in a warm country. But for most of us, the sun holiday will not be a fact until the summer of next year at the earliest. Especially since the borders are finally open again after years of corona. Are you planning to book an all inclusive to Turkey next year to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches, the delicious Turkish food and the hospitality of the Turkish people? Then it is important to keep a few things in mind.

Local corona rules in Turkey

Turkey is a country where many Dutch tourists like to spend their holidays. All the more so because for two years it has been virtually impossible to visit the popular Turkish seaside resorts due to corona. But that seems to be over now. Because since 1 June 2022 you can travel to Turkey again without proof of vaccination, recovery or test. Also with the airlines, wearing a face mask is generally no longer a requirement and it is left to the passenger whether or not to wear it. However, this can differ per airline, so it is recommended to take a face mask with you in your hand luggage just to be on the safe side. But otherwise all corona rules have been released, so as long as Dutch tourists comply with local law and respect Turkish customs, nothing can stop them from spending a pleasant holiday in Turkey.

What else should you think about?

In dry and hot summers, forest fires can occur in Turkey. In addition, earthquakes are possible. Therefore, always keep up to date with the local news and follow the instructions of the authorities in such cases. It is also useful to know that there are high penalties in Turkey for the possession, use and smuggling of narcotics. It is also an offense to take cultural-historical or archaeological items with you when you leave the country. And LGBTIQ is not yet generally accepted in Turkey. That is certainly something to take into account.
