Union Home Minister Amit Shah has told Trinamool Congress MPs that he would seek a report from the state government on the clashes in Tripura. The MPs were allowed to meet Amit Shah after he protested in front of the Union Home Ministry. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has arrived in Delhi for a three-day visit.

The Trinamool Congress has accused the government of colluding in the forthcoming local body elections in Tripura on Thursday. TMC youth wing leader Sayoni Ghosh was arrested in Tripura on Sunday. Party general secretary and Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee’s bag was found abandoned at the Agartala airport before his arrival today. The MPs were stabbed and protested after they refused permission to meet Amit Shah, requesting him to intervene to end the conflict. Home Minister Nityananda Rai said the meeting would be arranged but the MPs did not give in. After receiving proper notification, the protest ended and the MPs met Amit Shah.

Mamata Banerjee will meet the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition. The increase in the BSF’s jurisdiction, the Tripura conflict and the economic contribution to Bengal will be raised during the meeting with Mamata Modi.
