“‘Tuta Gold’ is a different piece from my genre, the trio won’t be easy”

Mahmood returns to the Sanremo festival after two participations among the Bigs crowned with two victories, in 2019 with ‘Soldi’ and in 2022 with ‘Brividi’ paired with Blanco. This year he presents himself with ‘Tuta Gold’, “a piece different from my genre”, and puts his hands forward: “It certainly won’t be easy to get the third victory. They would throw tomatoes at me”, he laughs. Then more seriously he adds: “Returning to Sanremo is always nice but the song is difficult, it leaves little time to breathe. And so I’m living this experience as if it were my first time”, he confesses.

‘Tuta Gold’ “is the focus of the new album”, the album ‘Nei letti degli altri’, which the artist will release on 16 February, the week after Sanremo. The song, like the album, talks about feelings and the need for love: “I go back to the past, to what caused suffering, but which also had positive implications because those pains strengthened me. It represents the emotional maturity that this album has given me given away,” says Mahmood.

The title track of the album ‘Nei beds degli altri’, is “the heart of the album”, where the artist brings his “360 degree vision of interpersonal relationships”. The bed, which in its cyborg version is also the protagonist of the album cover, represents “a safe haven, where we bring those we love, where we are betrayed or betrayed. On the bed I have exorcised many demons, including the fear of not being loved. It is a place of self-analysis”.

In ‘Nei beds degli altri’ there will also be featuring, such as those of Tedua and Chiello in the song ‘Paradiso’. “For the first time I won’t sing the chorus of one of my songs. Chiello will sing it”, she underlines. “For me it’s a small masterpiece,” she adds.

On the evening of Sanremo covers, Mahmood will bring Lucio Dalla’s ‘Come è profound il mare’ to the Ariston stage, together with the Tenores of Bitti Remunnu ‘e Locu, a historic Sardinian tenor singing group. “How deep the sea is one of the most beautiful Italian songs. It represents the sense of freedom. You cannot fence off the sea. I also feel free artistically: it is the only thing that allows me to do this job without making it a job And then it makes me happy to bring Sardinia, my mother’s homeland, to the Ariston stage.”

After Sanremo, Mahmood will cross Europe with his European Tour (“let’s see if they still remember me after Eurovision”) with 10 stops in the main clubs, which will end with two Italian dates, at the Fabrique in Milan, scheduled for on May 17th (sold out) and 18th. From July 19th, then, he will leave for the Summer Tour which will take him to the main summer festivals.
