TVS Motor to Launch New Electric Vehicles in 2024
TVS Motor is making big moves in the electric vehicle market, with plans to launch new electric vehicles in the two-wheeler market in 2024. The company’s chairman has also revealed that a three-wheeler model is in the works.
Currently, TVS Motor is selling the iCube electric scooter and the X, a two-battery electric scooter that puts out 11 kw of power. The demand for the iCube scooter is on the rise, prompting TVS Motor to increase production to 25,000 units. The company also plans to export both the scooter and the new X to the European market.
“We are planning to launch a series of new products in the 5 to 25 KW range in the next year,” TVS Motors Director and CEO KN Radhakrishnan said in an interview to PTI news agency. He also mentioned plans to bring electric two-wheelers in different price ranges, catering to different performance needs.
In addition to expanding its electric two-wheeler lineup, TVS Motor is also venturing into the three-wheeler market. The company has patented the design for an electric auto rickshaw model for passengers and is planning to release it for sale.
With these developments, TVS Motor is set to launch the low-cost TVS iCube and iCube ST, as well as a new electric sporty scooter or bike. The company also plans to increase the number of electric scooters currently sold at 400 locations and launch various new products in the next two to three calendar months.
TVS Motor’s foray into the electric vehicle market reflects the growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options. With the promise of new electric vehicles and increased production, TVS Motor is aiming to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market in the coming years.
