Western media cast doubt on Israeli army’s findings at Al-Shifa hospital
Twenty-four hours after the start of its operation inside Al-Shifa hospital, the Israeli army claimed on Wednesday to have discovered weapons and ammunition belonging, according to it, to Hamas. In a video posted on its communications channels, a spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces, Jonathan Conricus, tours several rooms in the hospital, ensuring that the images are filmed without cutting or editing – which is false, selon CheckNewsa cut being made at 6 minutes and 2 seconds.
The video released by the Israeli army was filmed during the day, with Mr. Conricus’ watch showing 1:18 p.m. Later in the day, the BBC and the American channel FoxNews in turn had access to the interior of the Al-Shifa hospital. Guided by the Israeli army, they visited the same medical imaging center that appears in images shot by the army during the day. But the BBC and FoxNews videos do not match the images released by the Israeli Defense Forces.
Mr. Conricus shows a room, with an MRI machine and a bulky bag “hidden, secretly, behind the machine”, according to him. Inside, “an AK47, cartridges, grenades and a uniform”explains the spokesperson. “The comparison between their different contents suggests that weapons were moved before the arrival of the journalists. (…) Taken in the same place, the images, depending on whether they are shot by the army or by journalists, do not show quite the same thing”avance CheckNews.
Instead of a bag with the mentioned equipment, Western media images show, details the verification service of Release, ammunition, a pair of shoes, and above all two weapons rather than one. The BBC itself pointed out the inconsistency in a short report shared on. “Israel told BBC it was because more weapons had been discovered during the day”explains the journalist.
