In connection with the report received from the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, the investigation carried out in the main department of the investigation of crimes against the state, the fundamentals of the constitutional order and public security of the RA Investigative Committee in the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated and investigated by the article 328, part 3, point 3 of the RA Criminal Code revealed 55 A number of essential circumstances of the cases of two men aged 50 and 40 making public calls for mass riots using information and communication technologies.
According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, the 55-year-old residents of Yerevan city and 40-year-old residents of Kotayk marz, who are drivers of cars with Georgian license plates, being dissatisfied with the legal regulations established by the RA government regarding the customs clearance of cars with the mentioned license plates, considering the implementation of changes in them in favor of drivers, the general public in the relevant group created on the social network “Telegram” accessible to the masses, he came up with proposals to solve the mentioned issue in a non-legal and non-peaceful way. The latter approved the similar posts of other members of the group and in 2024 on January 16, in the mentioned group of the social network, they made a public call to commit mass riots threatening public safety by destroying or damaging property, in the case of one of them, setting fire to a car.
On the basis of the obtained sufficient facts, the investigator conducting the proceedings submitted a motion to the prosecutor to initiate a public criminal prosecution against the mentioned two persons under Article 328, Part 3, Clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code, which was granted and they were charged.
The investigation is ongoing.
