Incessant heavy rains in the eastern parts of the UAE have turned the situation into a state of emergency for residents in some areas. Officials rescued families stranded in the rain, while some roads, tourist spots and areas had to be closed as a precautionary measure. The road to Al Taid was closed due to rising water levels.
As vehicles were swept away in the floods, residents of areas affected by heavy rains, government and private sector workers were given the option to work from home. The Ministry of Home Affairs advised residents of the affected areas not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. Except essential sector, all government employees are working from home. Employees of many private companies also work from home. Only essential personnel such as emergency teams and hospital staff are going out.
