The official Emirates News Agency reports that the United Arab Emirates will return the country’s ambassador to Iran, after in recent years there was no Emirati ambassador in Tehran due to the crisis between the Gulf countries and Iran. Last week, Kuwait also returned its ambassador to Tehran.

The news agency also reported that the decision to recall the ambassador was made after a telephone conversation that took place at the end of last month between the Emirati Foreign Minister and his Iranian counterpart, and that the Emirati Foreign Ministry stated that the ambassador’s return “will push forward relations, which will lead to the fulfillment of the common interests of the two countries and the region.”
