Uefa, Federations and Leagues united against the Super League project

by time news

Time.news – “La UEFA, the English Football Association (The FA) and the Premier League, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) e The League, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Lega Serie A have learned that some English, Spanish and Italian clubs may be planning to announce the creation of a so-called closed Super League.

If this happens, we would like to reiterate that we – UEFA, FA, RFEF, FIGC, Premier League, LaLiga, Lega Serie A, but also FIFA and all our affiliated associations – we will remain united in our efforts to stop this cynical project, a project that is based on the personal interest of a few clubs at a time when society more than ever needs solidarity. “This is what is stated in a note published on the Italian Football Federation website.

We will take into consideration all the measures available to us, at all levels, both judicial and sporting, in order to prevent this from happening. Football is based on open competitions and sporting merits; it cannot be otherwise.

As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations – the note continues – the clubs in question will be banned from playing in any other competition at national, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams.

We thank those clubs from other countries, especially the French and German clubs, who refused to join. “

Again, in the note, the bodies concerned add: “We ask all football lovers, fans and politicians to join us in the fight against such a project should it be announced. This persistent self-interest of a few has been going on for too long. When it is too much, it is too much“.
