A handful of ships have once again set sail from Ukrainian Black Sea ports despite Russia’s withdrawal from an agreement that allowed ships to safely pass through these waters to transport grain. They follow an incipient trade route: the corridor promoted by Ukraine, in the area that embraces its western coast and that of neighboring countries.

The spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy explained last Wednesday that around twenty cargo ships were ready to use the maritime corridor on the way to Ukrainian ports. “In total, we have 12 to enter the new corridor, and 10 to exit,” said Dmitro Pletenchuk, who did not give further details about the vessels.
