“Servant of the people” will be broadcast on La7, which has acquired the exclusive rights for Italy, starring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, today at the center of an unprecedented conflict in the heart of Europe. In the series, the current president of Ukraine, who at the time was one of the most influential comedians and satirists, plays an ordinary citizen, a high school history teacher, who is unexpectedly elected president following the spread and viral success of a his video exposing corruption in the country. A prophetic plot that, in reality, would come true shortly thereafter with the election – on May 20, 2019 – of Volodymyr Zelensky as president of Ukraine. Born as a biting and ferocious satire fiction, the series is today also a very topical document, an exceptional look at Ukrainian culture and of considerable importance for understanding the dramatic events of our time. Produced by Kvartal 95 and broadcast on first TV by the Ukrainian television network “1 + 1” between 2015 and 2019 “Servant of the people” – whose original title is “Sluha Narodu”, or “The servant of the people”, and of which Zelensky as well as the protagonist is also the creator, director and screenwriter – today it is a real cult, broadcast with great success in many countries of the world.
