From the first day of the war, Russian missiles of all categories have been falling in Kiev and many other Ukrainian cities. Recently, Ukrainian drones have reportedly been targeting buildings in Moscow, some even inside the walls of the Kremlin.
Such attacks on urban targets inevitably lead to media coverage of the magnitude of a blitzkrieg. But that’s pretty much their only accomplishment: Precision missiles can’t carry a lot of explosives, and drones even less. As for its high accuracy, it is only effective when strategically important targets can be identified – which is difficult to do except against tanks on the battlefield and warships at sea. Small missile warheads and measly drone charges can damage buildings, but they don’t have serious consequences.
This is an essential aspect of the whole war, especially when compared to the last major war on the European continent.
