The hard-fought contest, played on Senior Day in Amherst, saw the Roos rally from an early deficit to secure the win.
First-Half Dominance for the Minutemen

The momentum shifted dramatically after halftime, as Kansas City (10-2-4, 4-1-0 SL) began to assert their dominance. Shortly after the Roos tied the game, the minutemen defense struggled to contain the relentless attack.
Bryson Gosch put Kansas City ahead for the first time, heading in a corner kick to make it 3-2. Guille Munoz had previously leveled the score at 2-2 with 23-and-a-half minutes remaining. Despite a flurry of back-and-forth action, including impressive saves from UMass goalkeeper Dean Linden, the Minutemen were unable to regain the lead.
Linden proved crucial throughout the match, making two stunning saves in the second half, extending his body to deny the Roos on multiple occasions. however, a penalty kick awarded after a foul on UMass defender Brad Moccio proved decisive. Kansas City forward Jeremy Francou calmly converted the penalty, cutting the deficit to 2-1 earlier in the game.
