Cologne – tinnitus, burnout, depression – for Umut Kekilli (39), ex-soccer professional and fiancé of Ina Schnitzer (40, became known as “Yoga Jordan”), the world has been upside down for five months. The couple speaks exclusively to BILD about the most difficult time in their lives and how they are trying to find a way out of the dark times – as a couple, as entrepreneurs and as parents.

The internet beauty and the ex-kicker, who also became known through his relationship with Natascha Ochsenknecht, have been going together for almost four years. A chic penthouse apartment in downtown Cologne, joint restaurants and children Kaya (3) and Marcello (6, from Ina’s previous relationship) – life could be so beautiful.

► But then on March 12, 2023, the incision: Umut Kekilli suddenly gets tinnitus: “I suddenly had a noise and a whistling in my ear. It totally blew my mind and I couldn’t think of anything else, so I went to the hospital and the next day to the ear, nose and throat doctor again. They prescribed me pills and said it would go away.”

Even a few days off in a wellness hotel with his fiancée Ina, who was pregnant at the time, didn’t bring the improvement he had hoped for, quite the opposite: “The tinnitus got the better of me and I was afraid that it wouldn’t go away. I slept a maximum of one to two hours. Then came the panic attacks.”

Then another stroke of fate at the beginning of April: Ina Schnitzer had to give birth to their daughter Ellah in the 16th week of pregnancy. Umut Kekilli is still in the hospital during the delivery, but then cuts himself off from his family completely.

“There was nothing to be done with me. I holed up with my parents for three and a half months because everything at home was too much for me. I was alone in the woods for hours, couldn’t go to work,” says the entrepreneur, who runs four restaurants in Cologne. His parents and sister took over the business at that time.

Meanwhile, his fiancée remains alone with the children and the grief of the loss of her daughter. “It was the worst time in my life, I cried every day,” says the 40-year-old to BILD. “I was initially overwhelmed myself and didn’t know how to deal with my illness.”

Actually she gives on your Instagram-Account Nutrition and fitness tips, after all, she became world famous in 2011 as “Yoga Jordan” with sexy sports photos – but her career has fallen by the wayside over the months. “I haven’t been able to bring myself to exercise for weeks,” admits Ina.

Umut’s depression is a burden on the whole family, they both say. He goes to various doctors, treatments and was admitted to a clinic for ten days as an outpatient: “I didn’t want to continue the way it was,” says the family man. The main trigger: too much stress and pressure. “We’ve invested a lot of money in the restaurants, so there’s pressure to make sure everything works,” says Umut.

Today, five months later, he is still not healed, but he is doing better: “I don’t work as much anymore, I’ve learned to say no and I can enjoy a cup of coffee again. That didn’t work before.” He was also on medication.

“I hope the worst is over,” says Ina Schnitzer. She now wishes for peace and time to be able to process everything that has happened in the last few months. AND: “I would like to continue our couples therapy, which we had to break off. That gives you a different perspective on things.”
