United States: The government is expected to decide on stricter rules regarding crossing the border with Mexico

by time news

The US is expected to prohibit tens of thousands of immigrants arriving at the US-Mexico border from receiving asylum, as part of a proposal unveiled today by the government. Under the proposal, it would be the broadest attempt yet by the Biden administration to deter people from crossing the border without permission.

According to the new rules, immigrants who do not use legal means to enter the US or seek protection in countries they pass through on their way to the US will automatically be considered ineligible for asylum, unless they are eligible under certain exceptions.
