Unusable parks! Woe to vanish by occupation Unusable parks! Aggressiveness vanishes

Udumalai: In municipal housing, park development project has been shelved for many years and people are unhappy.

There are more than 300 lay-outs in 33 wards under Udumalai Municipality. In this, a study was conducted a few years ago about the encroachment of space reserved for public use.

Of this, it was found that in 61 plots, park space was encroached upon and used for other purposes.

In order to recover these places, initially, information boards were placed in the parks on behalf of the municipality.

In it, the information including the map and area of the place was written. Also, a few years ago, a resolution was passed in the municipality to remove encroachments and build parks everywhere.

But without adequate action, encroachment has increased again in park areas; The information boards have been removed.

Thus, complete recovery of park spaces in residential areas is questionable.

At the same time, the condition of already established parks has also turned into a pitiful condition without regular maintenance.

In more than 10 small parks including SNR, Lay-Out, Srinagar, children’s play equipment is unusable.

At some places, the barbed wire fence of the park has been defaced and converted into a place for ‘gudi’ boys only.

Due to this, in all the residences, there is no place for entertainment and the people are dissatisfied.

In this regard, the people have sent a petition to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu: In the area under Udumalai municipality, encroachment of park spaces should be removed without discrimination.

Damaged equipment and other structures in the already established park should be upgraded.

Otherwise, the park sites worth crores of rupees will be completely in the hands of the encroachers. It is necessary to take action through Tirupur district administration regarding this.

This is stated in the petition.
