Düsseldorf (NRW) – The next bad news from the beautiful world of travel!

The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings, based in Düsseldorf, expects ticket prices to rise significantly again this year in view of higher costs for fuel, staff and rising start-up costs.

In addition, the last year of chaos is still hitting the financial books. On average, Eurowings boss Jens Bischof (56) considers price increases of 10 to 20 percent to be realistic. However, depending on supply and demand, the increases on individual routes could also be different. The manager sees his plans confirmed by the current ticket demand.

Thanks to the high demand, the flight offer from Eurowings this summer is almost back to the level of 2019. 140 destinations are served across Europe. Above all in Berlin, where competitors Ryanair and Easyjet have withdrawn, the offer will double.

The airline boss is looking forward to the new tourism year with confidence: “We have done our homework to be able to map out a stable 2023 summer season,” said the manager in a press conference on Thursday.

Among other things, over 1,300 new employees have been hired and trained. More than 4,000 employees currently work for the Lufthansa subsidiary across Europe. Bishop proud: “Never before have there been so many who will be there with heart and soul.” However, so much heart and blood also costs budget, which causes prices to rise.
